Interview family members. Start with the oldest if possible. Be sensitive to skeletons in closets.

Women's names ~ Always record with maiden name. If unknown use --?--
LNU, NMA, NMI are not names
Who came to the town first? Daniel Webster, Sr. may be younger than Daniel Webster, Jr. and the two may not be related
Location, location, location! ~ Knowing the geographical place to search is more important than personal names
Dates can be confused. Always record dates as Day/Month/Year -- 01 Nov 2014
